The Scoring System
These sailing instructions have been agreed by the committee of PSSC in accordance with the rules of the club and may be varied at any time by that committee. These SI's apply to all series races organised by the club and to such other events, with amendments if necessary, as shall be announced.
Points will be awarded as per the Low Point System in Appendix A of the RYA racing rules of sailing.
Each boat starting and finishing a race shall be scored points equal to its finishing position.
A boat that starts a race but does not finish or is disqualified shall be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of the boats that started the race.
A boat that does not start a race shall be scored points for the finishing place one more than the number of boats entered in the series.
A boat helm who would normally have competed in a race but is undertaking OOD or Safety Boat Duties shall be awarded average points for that race based on the average of results in that whole series not including DNC.
The discard profile for series other than the evening series or regattas will be - 0,0,0,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3
For the evening series, the number of races to count will be 50% of the total number sailed.
The boat with the lowest total score wins and the other will be placed accordingly.
It is important to note that it is a boat rather than a sailer that is scored during a series. Change of crew is only permitted with prior approval of the sailing committee.
